The Metals:
Gold rose $9 to as high as $1127.60 in Asia before it fell to see a slight loss at $115.48 in London, but it then rallied back higher in New York and ended with a gain of 0.33%. Silver followed a similar pattern and climbed to $17.37 before it fell to $17.12, but it also rallied back higher into the close and ended with a gain of 1.23%.
Euro gold climbed to about €766, platinum gained $11 to $1436, and copper gained a couple of cents to about $3.13.
Gold and silver equities rose about 1% at the open before they fell to see slight losses by midmorning, but they then rallied back higher midday and ended with over 1% gains.
The Economy:
There were no major economic reports today. Tomorrow at 8:30AM EST brings PPI for November expected at 0.8%, Core PPI expected at 0.2%, and Empire Manufacturing for December expected at 24.00. At 9AM is the TIC Flows report for October expected at $42.3 billion and at 9:15 are Capacity Utilization for November expected at 71.1% and Industrial Production expected at 0.5%.

Oil fell slightly for the ninth straight session on continued worries over global energy demand.
The U.S. dollar index fell after Dubai received financing from Abu Dhabi and eased worldwide credit worries.
Treasuries remained near unchanged while the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P found modest gains on deal making news after Dubai’s financing and Exxon’s acquisition increased confidence over the global economy.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Dubai, Exxon and XTO, Citigroup, Morgan Stanley, and Glaxo.
