The Metals:
Gold dropped as much as $10.50 to $1132.40 in Asia before it climbed back to almost unchanged in London and subsequently fell off to a new session low of $1126.10 by about 10:45AM EST in New York, but it then rallied back higher in the last few hours of trade and ended with a loss of just 0.92%. Silver fell to $17.03 in Asia before it rose to see an eleven cent gain at $17.36 in London, but it then fell back off for most of the rest of trade and ended with a loss of 0.64%.
Euro gold rose back near its record high of €835 on euro weakness, platinum gained $1.50 to $1577.50, and copper fell nearly 6 cents to about $3.36.
Gold and silver equities fell over 2% by midmorning and remained at about that level for the rest of the day.

Tomorrow at 8:30AM EST brings February’s jobs data. Nonfarm Payrolls are expected at -65,000, the Unemployment Rate is expected at 9.8%, Hourly Earnings are expected at 0.2%, and the Average Workweek is expected at 33.7. At 3PM is Consumer Credit for January expected at -$4.5 billion.

Oil fell back near $80 a barrel as the U.S. dollar index rose after the euro dropped markedly on the ECB’s decision to leave rates unchanged at 1% and indicate that they will remain at that record low level for possibly longer than the fed’s campaign to keep rates at record low levels of their own.
Treasuries rose along with the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P on mixed economic data as traders prepared themselves for tomorrow’s jobs report.
Among the big names making news in the market today were TiVo, Bank of America, AB InBev, Wendy’s/Arby’s, Facebook, JPMorgan, and Goldman Sachs.

“Despite the modest gains in both gold and silver yesterday, I was very encouraged by the open interest figures that came out for Tuesday's trading... especially in silver. To have virtually no change in the face of such a big rise in the silver price was an eye-opener. Ted Butler is more than a little hopeful. His remark in his opening comments to his private clients yesterday read as follows... "The good news is that the silver price action appears to be unfolding according to plan [he said as he looked over his shoulder]." Well, it does look promising... but, as both Ted Butler and myself have said many times in the past, how far any particular rally goes depends 100% on what JPMorgan does. If they sell short again, this rally will have a very limited life span. If not... well, it could get interesting. So, dear reader, we'll just have to wait it out. Morning news reported that the medium term bond offering by Greece was met with enormous demand. Greece is holding 25% back for Greek investors.
The euro immediately proceeded lower.
What the market is saying is that Greece was within days of running out of money and a small rescue by some central bank, not necessarily the ECB, offered a SMALL bailout to keep Greece funded for a very short period of time to prevent bankruptcy next week. If you issue IOUs or can’t pay your bills you are broke, period.
Now the inviting question is what central bank just made Greece a small loan against medium term bonds?
