The Metals:
Gold fell over $10 in London to as low as $1184.90 by about 8:30AM EST, but it then rallied back higher throughout trade in New York and ended near its early afternoon high of $1198.64 with a gain of 0.22%. Silver fell to as low as $17.533 in London before it also climbed back higher in New York and ended near its late session high of $18.053 with a gain of 0.84%. Both metals have continued higher in after hours access trade as well.
Euro gold rose to almost €949, platinum gained $8.67 to $1517.00, and copper gained over 4 cents to about $3.01.
Gold and silver equities saw slight losses in the first hour of trade, but they then rallied back higher for most of the rest of trade and ended with over 2% gains.

The Economy:
There were no major economic reports today. Tomorrow at 8:30AM EST brings Initial Jobless Claims for 7/03 expected at 460,000 and at 3PM is Consumer Credit for May expected at -$3.0 billion.

Oil topped $74 a barrel ahead of tomorrow’s expected drop in inventories.
The U.S. dollar index and treasuries fell as the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P rose almost 3% on a better than expected profit forecast from State Street that increased confidence in the financial sector and pulled the broader markets higher.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Microsoft, Borders Group, Toyota, BP, State Street, Allstate, and Hexagon and Intergraph.
