Gold Seeker Closing Report: Gold Gains Over $5 And Silver Climbs to A New 30-year High

Gold rose as much as $8.58 to $1359.68 in early New York trade before it fell to see a $1 loss at $1350.10 at around 11AM EST, but it then bounced back higher in late trade and ended with a gain of 0.44%. Silver fell to $24.62 at around 8AM EST before it jumped up to $24.92 in the next half hour of trade and then fell back to around $24.70 by late morning in New York, but it also rallied back higher in late trade and ended with a gain of 1.26% at a new 30-year high.

Euro gold climbed to almost €966, platinum gained $9 to $1713.50, and copper gained over 5 cents to about $3.83.

Gold and silver equities opened up almost 1% higher before they fell back near unchanged by midmorning, but they then rose to new highs by mid-afternoon and ended with modest gains.

There were no major economic reports today. Tomorrow at 8:15AM EST brings ADP Employment for October expected at 23,000. At 10AM are ISM Services for October expected at 53.4 and Factory orders for September expected at 1.7%, and at 2:15PM is the FOMC rate decision that is expected to keep rates unchanged and detail plans for quantitative easing.

Oil rose again as the U.S. dollar index fell ahead of tomorrow’s fed announcement.

Treasuries climbed higher along with the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P on hopes for favorable election results and more accommodative monetary policy from the fed.

Among the big names making news in the market today were MasterCard, Pfizer, BP, Clorox, GM, and Imperial Tobacco.

Our markets of interest are all freeze frame as we await the outcome of the mid-term elections and the statement from the Fed on QE.

The bonds are peaking out of a downtrend line. Gold is fighting with a downtrend line. The dollar is under .7700 looking as bearish as it can.

In gold this type of market stand aside gives advantage to the bears and weak longs. In my opinion it will not be for very much time.
