The Metals:
Gold climbed almost 1% to as high as $1364.85 in Asia before it fell back off in London to see a $4.72 loss at as low as $1348.28 by about 10:30AM EST, but it then rallied back higher in the last few of hours of trade and ended with a gain of 0.38%. Silver fell to as low as $27.105 before it also rallied back higher and ended with a gain of 1.44%. Both metals are rising in afterhours access trade as well.
Euro gold rose to about €1000, platinum lost $16 to $1649, and copper dropped 8 cents to about $3.75.
Gold and silver equities waffled near unchanged for most of the morning, but they then rose steadily in afternoon trade and ended with over 1% gains.
The Economy:
There were no major economic reports today. Tomorrow at 8:30AM EST brings third quarter GDP expected at 2.4% and the Chain Deflator expected at 2.3%. At 10AM is the Existing Home Sales report for October expected at 4,420,000.

Oil fell as the U.S. dollar index rose on continued worries over spreading dept problem in Europe that sent the Euro lower.
Treasuries rose as the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P fell in early trade on concerns about Europe and ongoing probes into insider trading, but stocks then rallied back higher in late trade and ended near unchanged on reports that the FBI raids related to the probes were not as expansive as first thought.

Midway Gold Closes US$4 Million Offering of Units - "Midway Gold Corp. ("Midway" or the "Company") (MDW:TSX-V; MDW:NYSE-AMEX) is pleased to announce that it has closed its previously announced unit offering. Pursuant to the offering, Midway raised aggregate gross proceeds of US$4 million, through the issue of 6,660,000 units through a brokered offering in Canada and the United States. The units were issued at US$0.60 per unit, each unit comprising one common share and one half of one non-transferable common share purchase warrant. Each whole warrant will entitle the holder to purchase one common share of Midway at a price of US$0.90 per share until November 22, 2012. 7 illegal miners killed in Suriname pit collapse - "A landslide at mining pit in a remote part of eastern Suriname killed at least seven people who were illegally digging for gold, a company spokesman said Sunday.
The landslide took place late Saturday within mining company Surgold LLC's exploration area in the South American country's Sipaliwini district, a rain forest-covered region that is home mostly to Amerindians and descendants of runway African slaves, known as Maroons." More
