The Metals:
Gold fell over $10 to as low as $1355.49 by about 10AM EST, but it then jumped up to as high as $1368.43 in the next hour and a half of trade and ended with a gain of 0.06%. Silver fell to as low as $26.505 before it also rallied back higher in late trade and ended near its late session high of $27.235 with a gain of 1.31%. Both metals have also risen to new highs in after hours access trade.
Euro gold climbed over €1042, platinum lost $4.75 to $1635.75, and copper remained at about $3.75.
Gold and silver equities fell almost 2% in the first half hour of trade, but they then rallied back higher for most of the rest of trade and ended with slight gains.

There were no major economic reports today. Tomorrow brings the Case-Shiller 20-city Index, Chicago PMI, and Consumer Confidence.

Oil rose on continued geopolitical worries over the Koreas, cold weather, and the EU’s rescue deal for Ireland.
The U.S. dollar index rose as the euro fell again on European debt worries that sent treasuries higher and the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P lower again, but stocks did end well off their early lows.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Gartner, Yahoo, British Airways, and Wal-Mart.
