The Metals:
Gold rose to as high as $1396.74 in London before it fell to see a slight loss at $1382.10 by late morning New York, but it then rallied back higher in the last couple of hours of trade and ended with a gain of 0.15%. Silver climbed to $28.824 and dropped to $28.101 before it also rallied back higher and ended with a gain of 0.61%.
Euro gold fell to about €1058, platinum gained $18.50 to $1675.00, and copper gained over 12 cents to about $3.95.
Gold and silver equities rose about 1.5% by midday and remained near that level for the rest of the day.

Fed Names Recipients of $3.3 Trillion in Aid During Crisis Bloomberg
“A new survey by the Federal Reserve finds that 10 of the Fed's 12 regions reported economic growth increasing at either a "slight to modest" pace or at a "somewhat stronger" pace. Only two regions -- Philadelphia and St. Louis -- reported business conditions as mixed.”

Oil rose after the Energy Information Administration reported that crude inventories rose 1.1 million barrels, gasoline inventories rose 600,000 barrels, and distillates fell 200,000 barrels.
The U.S. dollar index and treasuries fell on reports that the US may help to bailout Europe.
The Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P rose about 2% on strong economic data and hopes for a resolution to debt problems in Europe.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Molson Coors, Gm, Ford, Chrysler, and State Street.

New Gold Monetizes Equity Position in Beadell for Net Proceeds of A$60 million - "New Gold Inc. ("New Gold") (TSX and NYSE AMEX:NGD) today announces that it has sold its 115 million shares in Beadell Resources Limited ("Beadell") at A$0.53 per share for total net proceeds of A$60 million or approximately $58 million. The company's shareholding in Beadell was a result of the April 2010 sale of New Gold's Brazilian subsidiary, which held the Amapari property and related assets, in exchange for $37 million in cash and 115 million Beadell shares. When combining the original cash payment and the recent share sale, New Gold's total cash proceeds resulting from the sale of its non-core Amapari property are $95 million. New Gold should recognize an after-tax gain on the sale of the shares of approximately $40 million in the fourth quarter." More
